I joined the University of São Paulo (USP) as an Assistant Professor at the School of Economics, Business Administration and Accounting in Ribeirão Preto in May 2008. Since then, I have been teaching management accounting courses in the undergraduate school and carrying out research and supervising students on the topic of corporate sustainability. I have been a member of the Research Committee of the School since 2011.

My research interests are: integration of sustainability issues in management control systems of companies in any economic sector. I am the head of a research project aimed at building an index to evaluate whether companies are having a balanced performance in the three dimensions of sustainability (economic, social and environmental). At present, the focus of the study is the application of the index in the process of setting goals for companies in the Brazilian electric energy sector. I also lead a research group dedicated to the study of indicators for corporate sustainability. 

Before joining the University of São Paulo, I taught at the University of Brasília (UNB) from 2004 to 2008. I taught classes for undergraduate courses in Accounting and for MBA Courses in Controlling and in Financial Markets. In addition, I taught and supervised students in the Master’s Degree Program in Accounting.

I have experience in banking because I worked for 20 years at one of the largest banks in Brazil, named Bank of Brazil. During that time I held positions in several sectors. I actively took part in the creation of the bank's Controllership and I worked for two years as an Executive Manager, in charge of the system of performance evaluation for products and bank branches. I was also responsible for the costing system and the transfer pricing system. I coordinated the project of implementation of the Activity-Based Costing System (ABC) in the bank.

I earned my Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Brasilia (UNB, Brasilia), my Ph.D. in Controlling and Accounting from the University of São Paulo (USP, São Paulo) and an MBA in Financial Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV,Brasília).
Apart from work, my interests are: family, meditation, yoga, cooking and travelling around the world.
